God Doesn’t Cry
©James A Daulton 2008
Tie me up with words
Cut me down with pain
Anything you do
My heart still feels the same
I don’t have no plan
No agenda in my mind
I just love your face
Your presence and your time
If I asked you for a gift
You could laugh at me instead
Just buy yourself a bow
And lay with me in bed
[God doesn’t cry for you
God doesn’t cry for me
God doesn’t want to look
God doesn’t want to see
What we’ve been doing here
What we’ve been doing now
God doesn’t understand
God doesn’t know how]
Don’t ever try to think
That I hate the way you are
I’ve always loved you so
Whether near or far
At times it has been hard
At times I’ve been so sad
We’ll always have those times
But I’ll never call them bad
I will not hurt you back
For that I feel no need
You can heal this wounded heart
Just as fast as you made it bleed
[God doesn’t cry for you
God doesn’t cry for me
God doesn’t want to look
God doesn’t want to see
What we’ve been doing here
What we’ve been doing now
God doesn’t understand
God doesn’t know how]
I’ll tell you how I feel
And you’ll get so much advice
Listen to them once
Then listen to me twice
Life is dark sometimes
Feeling plain fucked up
And we all reach the point
Where we’ve just had enough
I’ll be there for you
I won’t harbor any hate
God made you and I
You know that is our fate
[God doesn’t cry for you
God doesn’t cry for me
God doesn’t want to look
God doesn’t want to see
What we’ve been doing here
What we’ve been doing now
God doesn’t understand
God doesn’t know how]
God doesn’t cry for you
God doesn’t cry for me
God doesn’t cry for you
He doesn’t cry for me
