editing in preview mode
Posted: 11 Apr 06 1:44 AM
I think that even in preview mode, there should still be some sort of quick edit jump for the user.  Let's say you want to view the site in preview mode for analysis, but you find a typo or some minor annoyance in a post.  I think there should be a little, barely noticable, perhaps even shadow, button that the user can just click to do a "quick edit".  The difference between sticking a post it on a piece of looseleaf, and getting out the eraser to erase the mistake and write it over.  A nice quick fix without having to jump back into edit mode, which kind of ruins the frame of mind of being a public viewer pretty quickly.

I don't think that we want to sprinkle edit tools into preview mode -- our goal was to make it as close to 100% what visitors would see as possible -- but I think we'll be doing some things in the future that make edit mode look a little less like edit mode, so you won't need to use preview mode quite as often.

Thanks!
