Hi, I know that on the channel pages I can see how many people have listened to the individual 'casts. but is there a function on the site to see how many downloads have taken place?
Having the listen count is good but, given the nature of the medium, knowing the total numbers is a better indication I think?
I just tested to make sure they weren't in the same count (downloaded an episode again) and the listen count didn't go up.
Thanks
John
Hi John,
The play counter actually does include all downloads of the mp3 file. It takes a few minutes to reflect changes, but it should include all downloads of the file. This includes:
Downloads by the podcatchers (iTunes, etc.) of people who subscribe to the showPeople who play it on WildVoice.comPeople who visit a page on another site (MySpace.com, etc.) where you've included the WildVoice player widgetPeople who visit WildVoice.com and download your show manually to play it later
Hope this help!
-Mike
Don't forget, the download count is the number of downloads of the MP3 from our servers. If your client application is smart, it will download the file and save it in its cache. If you listen to the file a second time it should play it from the cache and it won't go to our servers to download again. So, the download count will not increase in that case.
Aha! Good news, thanks for the info. I was probably just being a little previous with my checking!! :-D
